Actor. Coach. Craftsman?

I’ve spent most of my life on stage and in front of the camera as an actor, helping businesses and executives as a coach and corporate trainer, and now, unexpectedly but completely naturally, am crafting beautiful, functional pieces from reclaimed timber.

Big Red Grain started as a simple hobby, a way to work with my hands between acting jobs. I made my first 20 boards as gifts for friends and family, and before I knew it, I was hooked, lost in the process of shaping, sanding, and finishing something real, something lasting.

Much like my work in coaching and performance, woodworking is about precision, presence, and storytelling. Each board I make carries the unique grain of its past, a history written in knots, patterns, and textures. I use reclaimed and recycled Australian hardwoods, giving new life to timber that might otherwise be reduced to a mere memory. Every piece is carefully selected, assembled, shaped, sanded to perfection, and finished with natural oils and waxes, ensuring it’s as durable as it is beautiful.

Whether I’m on stage, in the boardroom, or at the workbench, my goal is always the same: to create something with meaning, something that lasts.
